10th July: up early to drop our caravan off at RV auto- electrics in the grounds of George Day caravans- selling and service point for many,  many caravans! Our man is Mike Day, grandson of George, and son of the George Day who took over and expanded the caravan business, now sold on to Apollo RV’s. G’Day Caravans apparently started many years after George Day but use the same colour scheme to the mutual advantage of both!

Since our puncture, the Dexter light which indicates all is well with the electrics in the caravan, has been showing amber instead of green. Mike looked under our van and saw that a piece of rubber tyre from our puncture had flown off and wrapped itself around the brake cable, snapping it! We were alarmed to realise that we had travelled from Nanutarra roadhouse to Perth without an automatic braking system linking the Prado with the caravan! Mike thought that he could fix it but would need another day to do it!

We went home and then headed for Mr Wison on the River in South Perth to meet Bub. We had a most enjoyable catch-up with him, learning that he now had dual Australian and South African citizenship, that he had passed his cert 3 in mechanical fitting and had just left his previous contract work on Brrow Is to take on a permanent job at Wheatstone gas rig working for Chevron, working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

At 4.30pm we started cooking for a family party! Penny had made a pavlova during the day plus she made a falafel salad, and Bill cooked sausages. I make a large mushroom risotto. There was also corn and brocolini. Their daughter Kama brought a vegetable curry and her 3 delightful children Noah ,Delilah , George. Her husband Sam was working. Michael came too and so did Ellie and her son Greyson, Michael Ellie’s husband and their daughter Lottie were elsewhere. Ellie and Michael own a lawn business Positively Green and they employ Michael 2 days per week. We were able to introduce them to the concept of the Can Turf billboard jingle! Kim came too and she produced a wonderful multicoloured beanie for Nic too!
