31st May: got us reasonably early to walk to Manning Gorge. This involved swimming across the Manning River( approx 100meters) pushing 1/2 plastic 44 gallon drums containing our shoes and packs. The gorge walk itself was well marked with some clamouring over rocks- 5 km return graded grade 4.
The gorge had a waterfall with a nice swimming spot, but perhaps not the charm of Amalia and Emma gorges. On the way out we happened to see a couple of indigenous rock paintings about which there was no information available.
We then swam back with our gear in the tubs. We had lunch with Craig & Jill then a sleep to the sound of the short beaked corellas sweeping and calling to each other. I cooked pasta with cheese sauce, onion corn peas and tinned salmon, followed by Craig’s coleslaw.
We then played scrabble won by Nic!
