10th June: Left Tarangau Caravan Park via town centre of Broome to pick up fuel. We then had a coffee at the Dragonfly cafe with Craig and Jill, before proceeding to Cape Leveque and Lombadina Caravan Park.We decided on a walk to the beach for sunset a km or so away along a very sandy road. The scenery of the tide out at sunset was spectacular and the view to the moon rising was bathed in pastel colours. Saw some beautiful little red capped plovers running across the tidal flats as is their wont!

We were accompanied to beach by 3 dogs with their 2 owners some distance away. They headed to the right of the beach and the dogs went straight into the water for a swim. We then heard a cry of “all dogs out of the water now”and through our binoculars we saw that one of the dogs had been attached by a crocodile with a lot of blood evident. Nic and Craig followed the crocodile with binoculars. It all happened very quickly. We had been told at the office that swimming was quite safe at the beach..we started walking back as it got dark, but were offered a lift on the tray of vehicle whose owners had just been fishing.

I cooked portobello mushrooms with chilli jam and a vegetable surround of onions, zucchini red capsicum tinned tomatoes and  kidney beans, accompanied by a restorative G & T.

Addendum: The dog was attacked by a reef shark not a crocodile! However the dog attacked the shark first and then the shark retaliated!

I spent the evening trying to pair my phone with my camera without success! I then transferred the photos from the Canon to my laptop via memory card. Upon review they were generally disappointing! I take much better photos with my iPhone but I will persist!
