16th May: we are in a delightful caravan park next to a river. We had coffee with Jill & Craig at the caravan park and then went to Coventry Mechanical and Caravan repairs where once again had the luck to meet a wonderful Top End tradesman, Mark, who sorted out the buckle in our caravan door with his knee and some pressure and then sent us to Red Sun Sports to pick up 2 caravan door catches to replace the centre and bottom catches of our door which had been sheared off! I bought an extra set of 3 catches whilst I had the opportunity! Mark charged us $50 cash! We then went to Coles for a big shop for the Gibb River Rd. Having fully realised the value of cash around here, we found a Commonwealth Bank with an auto bank and I joined a very long queue! We found out that it was the only ATM in town and was going to close when the Bank closed at 4pm and wouldn’t be open over the weekend. Meanwhile, Nic had gone into the bank itself and suggested that I do the same. In the bank were 2 female tellers and a male security guard who was told to lock the door after me and not let anyone else in and he was asked to chase a previous customer. In order to take any money out ,you needed to have a Commonwealth Bank keycard and photo ID. The 2 indigenous women in the queue in front of me did not have the right identification and were declined any money.

We then went back to the Caravan Park where I did 3 loads of washing in preparation for the GRR. It is the week of the Rodeo in Kununurra and there was a concert Ashton the CP that night but there weren’t any tickets left when I tried to get some ( they were free but only a certain amount were available) Nic and I therefore went to Gulliver's Hotel, and missed out on Barramundi but had pizza.
