May 2nd: yet another day involved with the administration of our lives, fortunately with good outcomes! We went back to Think Water where I was able to get exactly the right adaptor to attach the new sullage hose I bought (38mm) to the caravan outlet (45mm)! Victory at last. We then sought to find a solution to our water damaged Telstra extender! We started with ARB who couldn’t help but knew who could! He referred us to CommSpec and its owner Richard Radio! “It will be closed but just walk in under the roller door”! He did not have the Antenna we needed but he took our water damaged one, tested it and then cut it apart, thoroughly drying the internal electrics and antenna and putting it back together with this amazing shrink tubing which sealed the unit under extreme heat! He also found a cap to Re waterproof the antenna from his huge supply of stuff left over from previous jobs servicing government vehicles’ electrical needs! Like Steve yesterday, he imparted a huge amount of knowledge to us over a couple of hours! He also emphasised that we needed low tyre pressure on outback roads! He suggested 20psi for Gibb river road! What a work ethic! Our antenna became his challenge and he certainly rose to it! He charged us $50 but of course we gave him more!
The rest of day was taken up with processing 3 loads of washing, grocery shopping and cooking mushroom risotto followed by a salad for dinner! It was delicious!
Seeing ring-necks close-up around the caravan was the ornithological highlight of the day, a change from the spurred pigeons!
Our caravan park is near the dry Todd River bed full of river red gums! A great place to camp as many have done over the years!
We haven’t done many touristy things in AS but have been soaking up the vibes and meeting such interesting characters!
