May 22nd: went to Zebeedee Falls in the morning arriving at about 10 am. The walk in was via tropical rainforest with Livistona palms and pandanus, to hot water springs with quite a few people there sitting in the water already. It was pleasant but would have been pleasanter without the hoards! Was captivated by one particular golden orb spider web.
Had time for coffee and doing the washing and then we went on a boat cruise on the Chamberlain river to Chamberlain gorge. It was a cruise of simple pleasures looking at the sandstone walls of the gorge and trying to spot short warred wallabies. At the end of the gorge there was a “fish sanctuary” with 7 spotted Archer fish who spat at us when fed, black bass, cat fish and barramundi.
We had vegetable stew with pasta at Jill and Craig’s camp- very tasty. Tomorrow we walk Amalia gorge.

Dear Suzanne and Nic
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are seeing some lovely places! You seem to have covered a huge amount of ground in a relatively short time.
Have really enjoyed your photos Suzanne. Flying over Purnululu must have been wonderful. I was working in Environment Dept when it was first nominated for inscription on the World Heritage List and have always thought it must be a magnificent place. Loved the striped rocks in the gorges!.
Now v chilly in Canberra but we have at least had some rain though thankfully not a touch on the downpours north of us.
Drive safe and continue to enjoy your Australian outback discovery tour!
Love to you both
Noel
